The Challenge

Eskom, South Africa’s primary electricity utility, needed a single, reliable platform to reconcile commercial revenue (from detailed customer billing) with financial revenue (from SAP consolidated financials).

Key challenges included:

  • Disparate data sources and complex reconciliation between granular billing data and high-level SAP totals
  • Legacy top-down budgeting processes that lacked customer-level visibility
  • Requirement for both detailed views (large/key customers) and aggregated summaries (small consumers)
  • Need for accurate bottom-up forecasting, statistical revenue tracking, and integrated dashboards for the BI department
